Fountain Pen in Premium Curly Birch Burl with 24K Gold Components, Supplied with Ink Cartridge & Eye Dropper Refill.
The birch (Betula pendula) is found throughout Central Europe and is one of the most important pioneer trees. It loves light and reaches a growth height of 30m with a maximum trunk diameter of 0.8m. It only lives to a maximum of 150 years. The bark of the birch contains terpenes as therapeutically effective components, which are particularly important anti-inflammatories and have tumour-inhibiting and antiviral effects, such as betulin, betulinic acid and lupeol. The blood-cleansing and diuretic effect has been known for centuries. Leaf teas are used for kidney gout, kidney and bladder stones and other kidney-bladder diseases, and an internal use of birch sap is also described.
In the customs of all Nordic and Scandinavian peoples, the birch plays a large and important role. It was dedicated to the goddess Freya. The mythological significance of the birch as the "tree of protection" should also be emphasised. The birch tree is also considered the tree of light, and superstition has it that it attracts lightning, which is why it is rarely found on farms. Customs such as the Maypole have survived to the present day.
The burl wood here is a rarity and is hardly ever offered.
